Project F.R.E.D.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Project F.R.E.D.?
Project F.R.E.D. (Frequent Reduction of Environmental Destruction) is a local recycling project that I run. We aim to recycle materials that would otherwise be thrown away.

How old is Project F.R.E.D.?
I started the project in my junior year of high school, or fall 2004.

How much has Project F.R.E.D. collected/saved?
The only raw data I have is for the work I did at my high school during Project F.R.E.D.’s first year of service. During that year, we recycled approximately 6,700 cardboard lunch trays (420 pounds), 1300 plastic bottles (110 pounds), and 475 cans (16 pounds). Since then, I’d say we recycle about a small trash can’s worth of cans and bottles per week, from the receptacle I have set up at my place of employment, and from my recyclable-collecting walks, which I’ve branded Project F.R.E.D. Mobile.

How can I help Project F.R.E.D.?
Recycle. Cans, bottles, paper, whatever. (Reduce and reuse too, if you’d like.) That’s what the project is trying to do. More specifically to the project, if you need help recycling (if you’re a small business for example, or you just have a lot of recyclables that you don’t have time to sort through), and are local to the Eureka area, let me know; I may be able to help.
